The “Spirit of
Saginaw” Band began with 85 members in 2005. Now as the
2010–2011 school year approaches, the “Spirit of Saginaw”
membership has grown to approximately 300 students. The
band’s standard for excellence is evident in the quality of
individual student musicianship, accomplished performing
groups (both large and small), and a commitment to the
growing Saginaw Band Family. The “Spirit of Saginaw” Band
has earned four consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards, and five
consecutive UIL First Divisions in UIL Concert and Sight
Reading. The band earned a coveted berth in the UIL AAAA
State Marching Championships the first year the band was
eligible in 2007. Saginaw followed that up in 2009 by
earning another berth in the UIL AAAA State Marching
Competition. Making two consecutive trips to the UIL State
Marching Competition solidified the bands reputation and
vision for excellence a reality. This coming year the band
will move up to class AAAAA and compete with the very best
in the state. Follow us as we “March” forward into a bright
